NZGDC 2025: Sharing knowledge and supporting the gamedev community

Mytona has proudly been one of the main sponsors of the New Zealand Game Developers Conference (NZGDC) since 2019, continuing our long-standing support for the country’s largest game development event.

The theme of this year’s conference — “The People at the Heart of Games” — highlighted the importance of collaboration, inclusivity, and human creativity in shaping the future of the industry.

As part of our contribution, we once again hosted the Quiet Room, a popular relaxation space for attendees to unwind between sessions. This year, the room celebrated the 10th anniversary of our flagship title Seekers Notes and received great engagement and feedback from participants throughout the event.

Our team also took part in the conference programme, sharing insights on leadership, operations, and workplace culture — reflecting Mytona’s ongoing mission of sharing knowledge and supporting the next generation of game developers.

The conference brought exciting developments for the New Zealand games industry, including increased government support for developers and recognition of Mytona by NZ On Air as a success story for our educational partnership with Westlake Boys High School. It was also announced that next year’s NZGDC will be held in Auckland — an especially exciting update for us as it’s home to our headquarters.

For Mytona, participating in NZGDC 2025 was more than just an opportunity to connect — it was a way to contribute to the growth of the industry, share experience, and inspire future creators. Together, we’re helping strengthen the foundation of New Zealand’s game development community.
