Mytona at NZGDC: Bringing 'Wow and fun' to New Zealand’s premier gaming conference

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the NZGDC is New Zealand's premier gaming conference, uniting industry professionals and enthusiasts through keynotes from renowned leaders and exciting indie showcases. For the past five years, Mytona has proudly sponsored this event, always aiming to create a sense of “Wow and fun for everyone” in every engagement. This year, as a Silver sponsor, Mytona organised the traditional Quiet Room, hosted an afterparty Chill Zone, and shared valuable expertise with the gaming community.

Our software engineers, Jack and Rony, presented “Dear ImGui: Build a C++ Debugger and Editor”, offering fellow professionals a deep dive into powerful debugging tools. The talk was a perfect opportunity for Mytona to share its expertise, demonstrating our dedication to innovation and collaboration within the gaming community.

This year’s iteration on the Quiet Room had everything needed to truly transform the space into a serene and comfortable refuge from the high-energy intensity of the conference. Featuring cosy beanbags, complimentary drinks, and soothing music, it provided attendees with a much-needed break, while the aroma of fresh popcorn filled the air. The room was far more than just a space to relax — it was an opportunity for attendees to interact with the brand in a comfortable and organic manner. Guests were extremely impressed with the facilities:

  • “The event can be overstimulating for people with neurodiversity, so it’s really nice to come and relax at this beautiful space with all the plants and beanbags, -  shared Paige.

  • “I really like the space. People here are lovely, it’s kind of nice to take a step back from everything that’s going on outside – especially when your vocal cords are all sore!”, -  said Grey.

  • On another exciting note, during the conference, our team learned the results of a survey among industry participants, revealing a remarkable insight: the lion’s share of the industry’s revenue growth can be attributed to Mytona’s relocation of its headquarters from Singapore to New Zealand at the end of 2022. This milestone is a source of immense pride for our team and a testament to Mytona’s impact on the local gaming ecosystem.

At the same time, this knowledge comes with a heightened responsibility to foster sustainable growth for the future - something we’re committed to upholding as we continue to expand and support New Zealand’s thriving gaming industry.
